Medicaid Prescription Requirement

President Bush signed H.R. 3668, which includes a provision for delaying implementation of the requirement that all written Medicaid/Medicare prescriptions be on tamper-resistant prescription pads. The bill, effective October 1, 2007, delays implementation of this new requirement to April 1, 2008. Therefore, by April 1, 2008, all written Medicaid/Medicare prescriptions must have at least one of the tamper-resistant features detailed in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement (linked below), and all three of the required tamper-resistant features by October 1, 2008.
